As one project over a few days, within a month-long Workaway, I designed a pathway with several functions: to be aesthetically pleasing, to designate where to step and not to step (avoiding soil compaction), and to respect the permaculture principles used throughout the rest of the property by allowing the natural ecosystem (and people as one part of it) to flourish.
I used the stones left over from digging on-site. That digging was done by the Workaway host to build the climate-resilient earthen-dome structures that make up the residences.
