Led several sports programs, including a youth triathlon-training program, a youth sports class teaching 4-6 year olds how to play soccer, whiffle ball and football.
Ran the scoreboard, kept the scorebook, and controlled the music during halftime and timeouts of the teen and adult basketball leagues.
As part of my high school internship credit, I completed several research papers based on peer-reviewed publications analyzing varied aspects of youth development including:
- The impact on childhood obesity of fast food companies targeting children's shows.
- How urban planning and de facto discrimination in access to nutritious foods impact lifelong health outcomes.
- How agricultural subsidies tied to commodities, notably corn, are connected to the prevalence of obesity.
- How the perception of exercise has changed to one focused on wellness instead of solely sport and aesthetics.
